Carta-Mancy

Update April 2026:

I made Carta-Mancy for the Carta Jam back in 2021 and I still use this system to this day. Though I’ve tweaked the tables a bit to expand their scope when I truly understood the possibilities offered by the underlying system of Carta-Mancy… A while after the Jam. Now that I’ve found again the motivation to translate and format my stuff, it's time to put out there a revised edition of Carta-Mancy.

Endless Dungeons, Endless Fun!

Welcome adventurers! Are you a solo roleplayer? Or, are you a a game master who wants to add randomness in their games? In either case, Carta-Mancy is for you!

Using only a standard 52-card deck and this document, you will be able to generate an infinite number of dungeons for your favorite fantasy roleplaying game.

In Carta-Mancy, each card represent a Room of a dungeon. Some will be filled with treasures, some with traps and monsters. Some will be dead ends, some will be crossroads. These information will be provided by the card's Rank andSuit.

But the cards won't only be drawn and discarded! Using Carta-Mancy, the dungeon is going to build itself in front of your eyes during its exploration.
